Kate Middleton's long-awaited comeback took place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. The Princess of Wales attended her first official state visit since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Kate Middleton, the big comeback?

Kate Middleton's official appearances in 2024 can be counted on the fingers of one hand. On the advice of her doctors, the Princess of Wales has chosen to focus on her health and her preventive chemotherapy. She announced in September, in an intimate and moving video, that she had finished her treatment and was ready to resume her role within the Crown.

Slowly, and without rushing, Kate Middleton should therefore take on new commitments. This December is proof of this: not only did she receive the Emir of Qatar, but she also wanted to maintain a tradition that she herself established. On December 6, 2024, the big Christmas concert will take place at Westminster Abbey, which she will attend, probably alongside her husband Prince William and their three children. This evening will be broadcast on English television on December 24, 2024.

The complicity of Kate Middleton and Prince William

The royal couple has accustomed us to maintaining a certain distance. They have always been keen to respect protocol by avoiding appearing too close and tactile in public. Unlike Meghan Markle and Prince Harry who are used to holding hands during their official appearances.

Kate and William avoid effusions to concentrate on their role as representatives of the Crown. However, the most observant noticed their complicity during the visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani to Buckingham Palace.

Prince William discreetly placed a hand on Kate Middleton's back, which is as rare as it is touching. For many, it was a gesture of encouragement and support, for this return to the spotlight.
